Shila Ghosh is young at 83. Her fingers don't tire; her eyes don't water, as her grandson helps her put together her day's work. Everyday she travels to Kolkata to sell homemade fries. It was here where she met 24-yr-old student Soofiya Khatoon. She stopped, she tasted her homemade fries and she decided to help. "If you feel like helping, just help. It's high time we say we want to help. I also used to think when I grow up, I will help others but that day that drive was there and I thought today I have to help her somehow and I did it," says Khatoon. Says Shila Ghosh, "I feel like I have found a friend.

Mumbai's 84-year old Prabha Pense has been playing matchmaker for the differently abled for the last 22 years. In the case of Prabha Pense, a resident of Mumbai's Shivaji Park, one is neveoo old to play cupid. The octogenarian plays matchmaker to singles and all are differently r tabled. 

                                    Retired IPS officer educates backward tribe

A retired IPS officer in Bihar JK Sinha has set up a free English-medium residential school to educate 200 young Musahar boys. It's a big step for the tribe which is one of the state's most backward communities. Every morning, the national anthem instills pride and courage in 120 inmates of the residential school. One of the students Pankaj said, "This school gives us all the basic amenities that a student deserves."

     100-year-old former Mr Universe Manohar Aich still strong, 

Iron man Manohar Aich, who turned 100, says a little discipline in life and treading the path of honesty will help one live long. The 1952 Mr Universe, who is 4 feet 10 inches tall, has followers who're as young as 65 years. Manohar Aich turned 100 this summer. But the way he flexes his muscles is a style statement by itself. All of 4 feet 10 inches, Aich won the Mr Universe title in 1952.

पागलपन और जिद को जब हौसले का साथ मिलता है तब असंभव भी संभव हो जाता है। इतिहास के पन्नों में हजारों ऐसी कहानियां है जो इस बात को साबित करती हैं। लेकिन सिर्फ इतिहास ही मानवीय उपलब्धियों का गवाह नहीं है। वर्तमान में बिहार के गया जिले के एक दीवाने ने पहाड़ के सीने पर इंसानी कामयाबी की नई इबारत लिख दी है। 
बिहार के ही गया जिले के दशरथ मांझी की कहानी को दुनिया जानती है। उन्होंने पहाड़ के सीने पर सड़क काटकर गांव के लोगों का जीवन सरल और सुगम कर दिया था। दशरथ मांझी अस्पताल न पहुंच पाने के कारण हुई अपनी पत्नी की मौत से टूट गए थे। पत्नी की मौत से दुखी दशरथ मांझी ने 1960 में पहाड़ काटना शुरू किया था और 22 साल की मेहनत के बाद वह पहाड़ में 110 मीटर लंबा रास्ता बनाने में कामयाब रहे थे। 

The ‘Medicine Baba’ Goes Door to Door

The “Medicine Baba,” Omkar Nath Sharma, 75, spends his days knocking on doors in Delhi’s upper and middle class neighborhoods, collecting their leftover medicines and giving them to the poor.

Mr. Sharma, a former medical technician, was jolted out of retirement in 2008, after an under-construction Delhi Metro bridge collapsed in Laxmi Nagar, claiming two lives and injuring several construction workers and passers by. Many of those people had no access to health care or medicine. “I was moved by the plight of the people who were running here and there searching desperately for medicine,” said Mr. Sharma in a recent interview. He said he visited the site of the accident and decided “I will do something to help society.”
